Statewide criminal record repositories vary in detail and scope of information for each state. There is no overall standard or federal law that determines how records of crimes (felonies or misdemeanors) are collected, indexed, searched or used. Data available may reflect arrest information obtained by police departments, county cases forwarded from local courts, or other criminal reporting agencies by the state.
 This product alone is NOT compliant with the FCRA to determine an applicant’s suitability for employment. This search is solely intended to provide a broader approach to uncover possible criminal activity beyond where the documented evidence points. A hiring decision must NOT be based solely upon the results of just the Statewide Criminal Record Search per the FCRA.
The Statewide Criminal Record Search is not available from the following states: AZ, CA, DC, DE, LA, MS, NH, RI, UT, VT, WV & WY.

Important note about Statewide and State Repository Criminal Database Records:
The above-listed states are jurisdictions in which, through a state repository or a proprietary database, some semblance of a statewide criminal record search can be conducted. No statewide search is complete. In fact, it is not uncommon for a state repository or proprietary database to be completely lacking information on a subject who has a known arrest, or even conviction, within that state.
These records are compiled through several database sources, and may not be accurate or current due to human error, data entry, and/or untimely, or non-reporting, from various counties, courts, jurisdictions, or government agencies. Because of the nature of databases, the appearance of a persons name on a database is not an indication that the person is a criminal any more than the absence of a name shows they are not a criminal. Any positive match should be verified by reviewing the actual county court records located in the jurisdiction of record. Any lack of a match is not the same as a person being "cleared." However, a database is a valuable tool in helping employers cover a wider area and know where to search for more information.
Therefore, the information retrieved should be used as a prescreening tool for "lead purposes" only, and does not constitute that the applicant has a "clean" record if no record is found, and should always be supplemented with an onsite county criminal records check where the applicant has lived, worked, and/or studied for the past seven (7) years.
